Quantcast

It is amazing how much terrain in the PNW we don't use for MTB's...

Here is a shot from an area that for decades has been used by horsemen, 4x4's, ATV's, Motorcycles (trail and trials), etc.....

looking down teh hillside that is part of the power lines.....would make a great DH course hill with the trees on the sides and brush under the power lines.

typical trails in the dark canopy...

yeh, ive gone up there a few times, most of whats there is not well built for dher's in my opinion, but i scouted some of the hils alongside the gravel road, and it is ripe for harvesting a dh trail. me and my friend took his truck up to the index wall, and i effed around on my bike up there, SUPERB place for dh runs, if your truck can get up there

If you guys look hard enough there's actually some stunts built up there. Hard to find unless you've got a bike to tool around on. But yeah, I agree with Rhino, lots of good sh!t to ride, problem is, no one wants to build trail. I built alot of sh!t at the beginning of the summer end of spring, only to have some a$$hole rip it all down. Probably because his kid got hurt on it. If we had some sort of organization, there's tons of prime locations to build trail, thing is, no one wants to spend their days of building and then there's the whole legal issue crap.

Rieter!!!! dude, I've been ridin up there for years on the DH bike.. finding good shuttle roads kinda sucked though, but man there is some good stuff. Upper mossy rock was a good one, we even re-opened the lower mossy rock after they clear-cut the area, not sure if it has made it onto any of the new maps yet or not, from what I hear its getting some good moto tracks on it.

I've always said there is awesome riding up there, or atleast possibilities for good trails, SUPER rocky, SUPER rooty, just a matter of gettin out there!

Problem is building all these friggin stunts, dont need the ramps, skinnies etc up there, build good trails natural stuff and it wont get torn out, build man made stuff and it wont last a week, nor should it.

It is like 30-40 minutes frmo Lynnwood so not that far.

The road going up past the pond and under the powerlines to the Index wall is perfect for shuttling.

I would think the trails running the ridge line a re DHable.....and the power line itself is all workable.

MTBr's just don't want to share the trails, I guess.

It is some of the nastiest terrain around and it is worst in the winter. :D

Heck yeah, I'm up in Juneau and there's TONS of mountains around, zero on trails for the most part, and no real way to get up there beside a helo. We've got a ski resort that's totally closed in the summer and a tram that runs up a steep tall mtn. NO bikes allowed of course. Just venting here I guess . . .
