I found this looking for a song for the "Rock Xmas" thread. These light shows always amuse me. You might have to turn the volume up ~15 seconds in...

I feel like I am the only one left who does not get kite surfing or find it interesting. To me its like scooters at the skate park.
I'm not a huge fan (grew up windsurfing) but I don't think you can compare something that can break 100km/h to a scooter.

That little board just kicked the crap out of multi-million dollar sail boats like this.

I gotta give some respect

Smaller cheaper boats have usually had the records like the sailrocket and some previous efforts.

The fastest sailboat is 126 mph and it has wheels. I bet it would be faster on ice:

Fastest manned sailplane - Nimbus 4 - 192mph

Fastest manned glider - the space shuttle but its not true glider/soaring flight - glide ratio is about the same as brick

Fastest RC Glider - 446mph

Fastest glider period - Mach 20+

Ok, but that is a picture of the previous record holder and it cost millions of dollars to construct.

I was talking about the record for wind powered water craft. Sorry for not being specific.

Actually the iceboat is the fastest watercraft then (there is also an unofficial claim of 158mph elsewhere). Ice is still a form of water:

Whitehorse Captures World Ice Boat Speed Record!!!
Winter 2003, Vol 7, No. 2

On Sunday, January 19th, 2003, 4LIYC member Harry Whitehorse streaked to a new world ice boating speed record on Madison’s Lake Monona.

Whitehorse’s yacht Das Boot, (also known as the Crippler), recorded a speed of 155.84 mph as he negotiated the downwind legs of the one mile race course in 23.1 seconds.

So by your logic the water vapor in the atmosphere is also water so even the aircraft are watercraft.....

Does this mean my bike is a watercraft?

The water vapor isn't the primary matter supporting those craft. It is in the case of ice and water.

A kite boarder isn't a boat either. They wouldn't stay afloat without wind.

Anybody else see someone do this at the jumps? I watched a dude, in granny gear, pedal like crazy (7 mph) into our medium step up, which is about 14 feet to the lip. He just rolled up and fell straight back. His friends are like "At least he didn't get hurt this time." Dude, GO HOME.
