This is an all-day event," KPRC Local 2 meteorologist Frank Billingsley said.

Up to 10 inches of rain fell in a 3-hour period in some areas, including downtown and along Interstate 45 South toward Highway 288.

"Five, 6 to 7 inches of rain is fairly common across the area as the system continues to drift," Billingsley said. "It is centered right now in Liberty."

The system was compared to Tropical Storm Allison.

yea htown was 8" behind before this weekend. it's rained the last 4 days. I went for a ride friday night and it monsooned on us for about 30 minutes. it was pretty cool (no lightning). we're standing at a stop light looking at people all cooped up in their cars thinking "how sad, it's such a nice evening to be out" and i'm pretty sure they were thinking "how awful to be stuck out in this crappy weather" hahaha.
weather is cool.
