To jump on the alloy bandwagon, here's the new bike. Some of you may have seen the old "rain bike," the scandium/carbon Easton bike, that was a size small, just didn't end up being big enough for me.

On my last trip to Taiwan I picked this up from one of the nicer factories. Full alloy, it was raw alloy when I got it, sloping TT, slightly taller HT, all in all a good winter bike. Took it to Olympic Powdercoating in the OC just before Xmas, and after some hemming and hawing, chose a pretty rad light gray color. No decals yet, I'm trying to find something cool/fun/bright to put on there, no brand names thought. 1140g in a 58cm *after* powdercoating, so pretty damn light for an alloy bike that big.

I decided to one-up the old Ultegra bike and use some Dura Ace I had. I also took the EC90 fork, EA70 bar, and Orion II wheels off of the older bike. Look KEO HM pedals, an EA90 stem, Prologo Scratch saddle, and FSA K-Force post round out the build. Thought about alloy for the post, but the carbon post will take a little bit of the edge off I think, especially in 27.2mm.

16.74lbs as she sits here, and a nice taut ride to boot. (un)Luckily I'm off to Taiwan again on Saturday, so I probably won't get too much of a chance to ride it, maybe once or twice this week.

Nice. Your rain bike is nicer than a lot of folks' normal bike.

What housing are you running? I had Nokons on my Turner and they got so squeaky after a bit that i pulled them off. Irritating things.

Side effect of the chosen career...

The cables aren't Nokons, they're a testing sample from a company that I wanted to try out. So far so good.

jussst saw that on FB and commented on it. And the AR1, which I would I like to ride very much.

What're you doing in Taiwan? Factory check?

We're totally riding the bleeding edge of electronic communication, across several different avenues!

The AR1 is a hottt bike, fo sho.
I'll be in TWN this trip to meet with some vendors, finalize some new products we're going to be launching in the spring. Stuff that would take weeks and weeks of back and forth emails, or 5 days in person.

And to answer your other question, "nothing."
One of the nice benefits.

That bike is pretty hawt in that it's a no-frills steed coming in that a respectable weight.

All of these new bike threads keep reminding me to post up my TT bike and, when I get it, my James-approved roadie ( ;) ).

I'll wish you a safe trip once you mail me some pedals :)

edit: re/question. Super rad!
And I'll thank you after you send me a pile of clothes! Also, I forgot (lost) your address, email me again.

Yeah, not too shabby with the alloy cockpit. The alloy Felt was 16.6, so right in the same ballpark. You can't go too much lighter in aluminum bike in a 58cm size, at least not without a one-season frame...

See my questions on the frame in the other thead...

No more Felt alu bikes you would ride?
I still have the F95 Team, it's kind of the go-to bike these days, I just like the ride and fit of it, all dialed in.

I have been toying around with the idea of stripping it down and having the paint stripped, down to the bare alloy, just for something different. I like the raw finish, not something you see on a road bike too often...
