Sounds like a good part of his life was a rough patch...
Saw that on a buddy's facebook page. I used to skate with that guy a ton at Kona in Jacksonville when he got out of jail (the first time). I even got in a fight with him once. He wanted a concrete skatepark and Jacksonville had it so that's where he moved for a while.
Rough guy with a rough history but that's too young to be checking out.

These guys were pioneering pools at the same time riders in NorCal were pioneering off-road. I hung up the stick when I broke my leg at the age of 33 at Victoria Skatepark in 1979. I was ten years older than anyone else I knew who skated vert, and by far the biggest physically, two strikes against getting really good.
The glaring difference between the two groups is that none of the mountain bikers went to prison.
I attribute the difference to the choice of drugs.

damn. Jay and I went to school together from 7th to 12th grade. The canyon pool was just up the street from my house.
