ok... beer is good, we all know that... but i have the bestest beer in the universe... i wish i was rich so icould drink this everyday, but alas i m a poor farm boy who makes his own clothes outta hay bags and yarn...

seriously... i picked up these 2 brews at a crappy military 'bazzar' they had on the weekend... a triple and a quad... triple (lighter bottle) comes in at 7.5% and the timmy mod at 10%... YES, it will get you creased... YES it is too expensive... it s made by the monks who took time off from the rigours or filming priest porn... :dancing:

without a doubt the best beer i have ever had... i prefer the triple, a little lighter but so many different levels of flavour...

anyway, as SS has commented... I AM THE FREAKIN BEER SNOB... (and proud)

enjoy beer people... in moderation of course

The Cleft of Venus
The International Trappist Association
In 1997, eight Trappist abbeys - six from Belgium (Orval, Chimay, Westvleteren, Rochefort, Westmalle and Achel), one from The Netherlands (Tilburg) and one from Germany (Mariawald) - founded the International Trappist Association (ITA) to prevent non-Trappist commercial companies from abusing the Trappist name. This private association, created a logo (see the picture) that is assigned to goods (cheese, beer, wine, etc.) that respect precise production criteria. For the beers, those criteria are the following :

The beer must be brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey, by or under control of Trappist monks.
The brewery, the choices of brewing, and the commercial orientations must obviously depend on the monastic community.
The economic purpose of the brewery must be directed toward assistance and not toward financial profit.
While the association has no particular legal standing (Belgium has weak beer protection laws), it does give the consumer some information and guarantees about the produce.

There are currently seven breweries that are allowed to wear the Authentic Trappist Product logo :

Bières de Chimay
Brasserie d'Orval
Brasserie de Rochefort
Brouwerij Westmalle
Westvleteren
Brouwerij de Achelse Kluis
De Koningshoeven Brewery (La Trappe)

The dutch brewery, De Koningshoeven, (La Trappe) produces the only authorised Trappist beer outside of Belgium. From 1999 until October 2005 the monks withdrew the "Authentic Trappist Product" logo from beers produced in Tilburg due to a dispute with the International Trappist Association over a commercial deal with Bavaria Brewery to produce the beer for them. After lengthy study of the matter all parties agreed on 9 September 2005 that La Trappe should again wear the official Trappist logo.

He just wants to fool you into saving some for him.

Anyway, what's a beer that you can't drink via a keg-stand?

Nothing, I tell you.

Hmm I did a little google search and I found out the "La Trappe" brewery is like 30 minutes from my house.
How's that for a lead
Ill give m a call tomorrow and see if I can get it straight from the source. Should be a hell of a lot cheaper if they sell it from there.

When visiting Philadelphia. find Monk's Cafe. It's got lots of, um, character...and every Trappist ale made, plus the most amazing selection of other Euro highbrow brews I've ever seen.

Plus the hamburgers are astoundingly good.

Parts would fit right in there.
