DENVER (AP) - The Senate is debating legislation today that would make it easier for the victims of childhood sexual abuse to file lawsuits.
The two bills would allow people to sue both their alleged abusers and their employer if they're accused of ignoring the abuse. State senators need to decide how far back those lawsuits can go and whether both public and private institutions should be held liable.
The bills have been opposed by Colorado's Roman Catholic bishops, who say that the church is being unfairly targeted.
