Hey, just looking for some info for a bud regarding the ride qualities or difference's of these two simular bikes, they are quite simular in design and apperance, and travel, how close are they?

Thanks, Bob

they're not too different; the Joker is 6" vs 5" Heckler; the Heckler has a falling-rate suspension which HAS to be used with the 5th Element (or an air shock, I guess; this falling rate isn't a design flaw). The Joker is more or less straight-rate, but uses the Fox (or did last I checked), so it probably evens out in the end. The 5th is soooo much more tunable.

The pivot placement is similar though so all in all, they'll respond to pedal and brake input in similar ways, it's all pretty much standard mid/high single pivot stuff like the Bullit and countless others.

I'd take a Heckler over a Joker any day as a trail/all-mountain bike. If he's looking for a freeride bike, just get a Bullit, Ellsworths are built kinda light and have had an awful lot of breakage issues, not to mention their CS has been a little spotty, while SC is pretty much infalliable these days...
