A young Dutchman previously arrested in the 2005 disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway is the prime suspect in a weekend murder of a Peruvian woman, police said Wednesday.
Joran van der Sloot is being sought in the Sunday killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in a Lima hotel, Criminal police chief Gen. Cesar Guardia told a news conference. He said the suspect fled the country the next day by land to Chile.
The Dutch government said Interpol has issued an international arrest warrant for Van der Sloot.
Guardia said the 22-year-old Dutchman, who was in the country for a poker tournament, appears

The fact is he wears a bull's-eye on his back now and he is a quote-unquote usual suspect when it comes to allegations of foul play
when he gets caught, i'm sure they'll change that bull's-eye to "maps of hawaii"

or aruba; depends what kind of mood his cellie's in

Fukking punk...
He talked about Natalee H in the car and everything was filmed by Dutch police.
It could easily have been tough talk but the jurys still out on that one.
a year or so later the Dutch police crew set him up because he was bragging online about selling girls for prostitution in Thailand.
Crew flew over and filmed him with 2 girls that he was going to sell, he never came through on the deal and the crew left empty handed...
Hes a stupid ass loser with a big ass mouth and for that alone he should be executed.

I was in Lima for about a couple weeks last winter and if the Peruvian police get him Im pretty sure he'll get what he deserves...

There were indications Van der Sloot may have been traveling on money gained through extortion.

The day of his arrest in Chile, Van der Sloot was charged in the United States with trying to extort $250,000 from Holloway's family in exchange for disclosing the location of her body and describing how she died.

U.S. prosecutors say $15,000 was transferred to a Dutch bank account in his name on May 10
i hope the Halloways can get some closure from this dirtbag....he caved in pretty fast for the Peruvian girl's murder, when is he going to formally admit to Natalie's murder

what a guy:
The FBI thought it was closing in on Joran Van der Sloot in the notorious Natalee Holloway missing-teenager case, and he was videotaped and paid $25,000 in a sting operation. But when the agency delayed his arrest to help build a criminal case, he took the money and headed for Peru, where authorities say he now has confessed to killing a different young woman.
Federal law enforcement officials and a private investigator said the work on Holloway's disappearance was revived in April when van der Sloot reached out to a lawyer for Holloway's mother and requested $250,000 in exchange for disclosing the location of the young woman's body on the island of Aruba.
He got $25,000, and the private investigator says the suspect was taped saying he pushed her down, she hit her head and died. But the statement from the FBI and U.S. attorney's office said the law enforcement probe "was not sufficiently developed to bring charges prior to the time van der Sloot left Aruba

Ask Lori Berenson about Peruvian justice:

As she was tried by a military tribunal with a hooded judge (publicly-known judges had been killed by the MRTA in the past), her trial provoked controversy in the United States, where such tribunals were thought to be inappropriate. She was convicted of treason and sentenced to life without parole. In 2000, following a change of government in Peru, her conviction was overturned and she received a new trial. She was found guilty of collaboration with terrorism and sentenced to 20 years of prison. She served 15 years, and was granted conditional release in May 2010. Peru's cabinet will consider whether to commute the remainder of her sentence to eliminate the parole period, and deport her.

wow, aggravated robbery is worse than 1st degree murder?
awesome
In Peru, a crime of passion could lead to a sentence as low as seven years, which could mean that van der Sloot walks in three or four years. Otherwise, if van der Sloot is found guilty of premeditated, first- degree murder, he could spend between 15 and 35 years in prison. (There is no death penalty in Peru.) There has also been talk about the possibility of leveling a charge of aggravated robbery against him, which is punishable with a life sentence

....and he wants to be extradited to the Netherlands??
Joran van der Sloot refused to speak to the Peruvian judge handling his case Monday, while a Dutch newspaper reported that he has retracted his confession.
Superior Court Judge Carlos Morales visited the 22-year-old Dutchman at the maximum-security prison in eastern Lima where Van der Sloot has been held since being charged with first-degree murder in the May 30 killing of a young woman he met playing poker in Peru's capital.

But Van der Sloot would not talk, citing his lawyer's petition to declare his confession void in the death of 21-year-old Stephany Flores, the court said in a statement.

The lawyer, Maximo Altez, contends the confession isn't valid because the defense lawyer present whenVan der Sloot made it was state-appointed.
