Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, your top law enforcement official.

In remarks prepared for delivery Wednesday, Gonzales says judges generally should defer to the will of the president and Congress when deciding national security cases.
When vetting a candiate for the judiciary...
“We want to determine whether he understands the inherent limits that make an unelected judiciary inferior to Congress or the president in making policy judgments,”
“That, for example, a judge will never be in the best position to know what is in the national security interests of our country.”
No but they certainly should be in the best position to determine the legality of laws used to implement and protect those interests.

Three branches of government, checks and balances are overrated. Democracy is all about elected officials act in representation of their campaign contributors and when the photo op is good their constituents.

I just pray that the next admin will reverse all the crap this one did.

In fact, one could run on the platform... "I'm not going to do anything new. Nothing new at all... just try to fix all the crap from the last 8 years!"

Whatever happened to the repub philosophy of smaller, less intrusive govt?

you guys, i have a confession to make. I really hate politicians. In fact, I think the only people who should be allowed to represent us are people who dont want to hold elected office.

yeah, we should re-install a brutal dictator who had rapists on the payroll & would kill & torture children in front of their parents of his political adversaries for sport.

we'll fully comply w/ UN mandates (remember, they have absolute moral authority), and just stick our head in the sand to all humanitarian issues, not just the darfur region.

It looks like that's Dubya's plan. The first step in that is getting the judges out of the way. Then the legistature and then there is your dictator.

That's how Saddam did it.
