Im rebuilding my 02 Boxxer and the manual says to use Judy butter--what is Judy butter (its not like duck butter or fromunda' cheese, is it? )? Is there anything special about it, or can I just use regular grease that I use for my bb, hub bearings, etc?

Ya I just rebuilt my 2001 Boxxer and was taken back where in the manual they said use judy butter for the insides, etc. I didn't use any because I didn't want it getting mixed in with the open bath oil.
Judy butter is just rockshock specific grease, safe to use on RS plastic parts. Manitou also has thier own brand that is safe to use with thier plastic internals< you don't need it.Use your fork oil to lube where needed

Edit: trickiest part of reassembly is to get the white glide ring on the damper back up into the bottom of the stanchions with it open (expanded position) and dislodging from its proper position around the top of the damper rod. You can damage the plastic glide ring it if you force it up in the expaned position. the trick is to keep it closed "small" around the top of the damper "there" when you stick it back up the stanchion. To keep it closed put the glide ring on the top of the damper up the stanchion end a little ways then close it around the metal damper with your fingers and hold it closed using a screwdriver while you slide it up. use fork oil to lube it and inside the stanchion so it slides up easier.Oh yeah, the "dog leg" goes up.The dog leg is the thin plastic nub part on the glide ring. My 2001 manual shows the "white plastic" dog leg down position, its wrong according to TF Tuned. If your glide ring is "brown" then the dog leg goes down to install properly
