Juicy 5 weirdness

I just put some Juicy 5s on my bike. The rear is fine, but the front is doing something weird. It's as though the contact point in the stroke of the lever is moving.

I've got the lever set pretty far away from the bar. Sometimes when I pull it, the lever will stop 1" from the bar. The other times (like after I hit a bump), the contact point moves such that the lever stops only 1/4" or so from the bar.

In either case, the braking is good and solid, with a solid "thunk" of an air free brake line.

I'm living with it now, but I'd rather not. Any ideas on how to fix this?
