D700 in February. I'm planning on doing a lot of third-world traveling next year and want something more PJ oriented than a 5D.

Excellent. I have the D70s and it roxors.

Make sure you update the firmware on it. It improves the menus and AF, among other things. It basically makes it a D70s with a smaller screen.

Why third world countries? If you want to experience poverty there is always rural West Virginia or Mississippi/Alabama.

Just go to Europe and get a Euro Rail pass.
