I'm psyched! I just got asked my LBS owner to race on their team for the 2005 season. Granted it'll be beginner class (yep, I'm a DH noob) but it's a foot in the door! If you're on the east coast, keep an eye out for a beginner racing for Elevate Cycles! :D

Good deal. I race for a local shop team (XC) and it is the best thing I have ever done. Best part is just being on a team, getting help, egging each other on and drinking beer.

Thanks Westy, I'm looking forward to it. Should be a lot of fun. In fact, I think several other member of this DH team will be on my 24-hour team at Dalton. Should be a riot!

no offense at all, but is it a serious competitive team since its in the beginner class or is it more for fun
There are more reasons to have a presence at local races than just to win. It gives a shop/team well deserved credibility. Obviously at this point it's not about the rankings, at least not for him personally but who knows what the future might bring. Plus if you do well in beginner and you are a beginner...well, you do the math :)

Welcome to the team McGRP01, you'll have a great time.
Sir happypants-
Yes i would say this is a farly serious race team, we try to attand many local northeast races, as well as nationals, etc. off the top of my head i believe there are around 10 people on the team, in categories ranging from pro to junior

We all have to start somewhere. Most racers aren't birthed into the ranks of the pro's, they work their way up from the bottom. Chances are, with his positive attitude, he won't be a beginner long. Good luck McGRP01!!!

Best of luck with the new team. I saw the Elevate team at Mount Snow NORBA last season, and they looked like a well organized, fast team. You're in good company. Beginner class is the only place to start if you're a beginner racer. Too many racers move up too quickly and don't savor their racing careers. It should be a pleasure and a priveledge to earn the championship in your class, then move up to the next level. Or at least come damn near close.

Well, I have ridden with McGRP01 on a bunch of occasions, and he isn't a beginner, just a beginning racer. I'm sure after some experience, he'll move on up. :thumb:

And Elevate is definitely a good team. Not only are they involved in the NE DH scene, but Chris who is the owner of Elevate Cycles is also doing alot on the local trail access scene. The land they lease from the local paper company has some outstanding tech trails, and would not exist except for the efforts of him and the local club.
