Thanks. I've kinda slowed down on my forum posting. I still post at mtbr now and then, but work's been too damn busy lately.

I'm really jonesin to get back to fine art photography. I used to play around a lot with b/w film, but that was years ago.

Dang... I miss my D50. :-(

I was thinking of pulling the trigger on a D80 with an 18-135mm. But that's $1,100, and I'd rather have a road bike.

*sigh*

get some primes! :D
I almost pulled the trigger with the Nikon 50mm f/1.4D AF lens, but I decided at the last minute that I wanted a little more flexibility with my first lens. Don't know if I made the right decision, but...oh well.

Take a look at the review of the Tamron at slrgear. The build may be plastic and the autofocus may not be the fastest, but they gave it great reviews as far as image quality goes.

I've been thinking about a road bike also, but I've been thinking about this camera more. If B&H can get it shipped out today, I'll have it this weekend!

Nice!

I'd be buying mind off of B&H too. Wolf Camera is a nice place to buy from (as there are like 5 of them within 15 minutes of my place) but it's the tax that kills it.

I've been eying that D80 for so long. But I've been eying an EP price on the Fuji Roubaix LTD. for so much longer.

i used to work at a photo store here in the boston area and Tamron lenses were a big seller. not as big as Sigma, but big enough. it's tough to tell the difference between off brand lenses so in the end go with price or what works for you.

So, how do you like it?
I just got it yesterday evening. We're in the middle of moving to a new house so I haven't had much of a chance to play. There are so many buttons, levers, bell and whistles on this thing I don't know where to start.

just saw this. no, you didn't. that's awesome... has it arrived? such a nice, solid piece of glass. scares people when you put on the lens hood, too.

You will need to continue acquiring glass for some time... :)

I am a Nikon person, and my current favorites are:
10.5/2.8 Fisheye
17-55/2.8
70-200/2.8VR
105/2.8 Micro

I keep a 50/1.8 and a Sigma 30/1.8 around when needed. I also like the Tokina 12-24/4 over the Nikon.

I am selling off a few things, including a 60/2.8 Micro and the 18-70DX zoom.
