i always knew you were a "screw"ball.

just in case you "have" to use nails, you can hammer the tips a few times to make them blunt, that will lessen the chance of splitting the wood......
also if you are using that to set up for a log ride the turn might be too sharp, always easier to make sure beforehand.

I was nailing after pre-drilling the holes. The wood's hard maple.

I only had time to practice falling off once last night. Exit strategy so far is by Rumsfeld - only way to get off is to sidehop...
