My girlfriend's daughter has this "Beat Pad" thingy made by MadCatz... it's like a floor mat that doubles as a game controller for playing Dance Dance Revolution on her PlayStation 2.

Take that, Aussie Rippers.

No joke eh, go ride at Mt Beauty (their hometown, one of Aus's best riding places) and even their father will come and kick your arse. Every time you ride there you feel like you're going backwards!

looks like the only company with faith in American riders is Yeti. What gives? Seems like IH would sign at least US riders? But I guess there is no effort or loyalty in US companies to develop US talent.

There is not a lot to choose from, our American kids are too caught up in being cooler than the next guy, making more "bling" than the next guy, or being drunker than the other guy.

Man, can I hijack a thread or what?

So yeah, Justin on the MC IronHorse team.....Excellent....they have the same mechanic for 05'? same trailer, truck, staff?

Ok, there, back on track

grass-roots programs are for developing local talent... full sponsorship is for people already fast. big difference.

Ryan White, a kid with A LOT of talent...he discovered the bong and the rest is history. THink he was trying to hard to follow in Miles' shoes...But I saw Ryan 2 years ago and while he is not racing anymore he doesnt seem to be a phucked up as the last time I saw him. Great kid, too bad we lost him to the bong. Theres a reason its called "dope"

I am wondering if Iron Horse is going to play on the unique opportunity with Justin as dual citizen or whatever. Technically he is both Australian and American. Id like to see VanDine get a ride though.

yeah, they quoted that benefit in the press release.

and Dante, I meant to specificly point out Duncan Riffle and Chris Van Dine, but typed too fast.

It just seems like the big US based teams had a great opportunity this season to pick up one of two or three up and coming legitimate US threats.
Riffle is first in mind. National Champ and great World Cup results for an 18yr old kid's first go round.
Sanjay for obvious reasons stated by Stik in another current thread.
Van Dine for his top showing at Worlds.

I know Riffle landed at Yeti and will get lots of help if not a big salary, but it just seems like IH and a few others would jump at the chance to get him. What makes him so undervalued?

No one said he wasnt of value at all. Duncan is a great kid and ridiculously fast rider. But there is not much money in the teams right now so it makes most sense to have 1, maybe two riders who get great exposure and top results all over the world. Unfortunately no Americans are doing that right now in DH so it could be a risky investment. Im not saying it wont happen but we currently do not have any american DH riders at the top of the world cup circuit and thats what those big teams are looking for.

edit: I hope a couple of those guys can prove me wrong this year and pull off some big time results.

does anyone remeber when Ryan White distintegrated at like 40mph+ in the Yardsale at Mt Snow?? I think it was '98, but I'm not 100% on that. It was the worst crash I had ever seen. Ever. I'd be looking for the bong too after a wreck like that!

I've been talking w/ Bryn a lot recently. he's got something in the works & signed a "letter of intent" to ride for a team. He doesn't want anything to leak out until he actually signs a contract...so i'm gonna be tight lipped at the moment. I'll post a thread when he gives me the "OK"

so don't worry, he'll be back, kicking some ass in '05!

next person to diss cannibis is going to get it.

some people can control their use of it,others can't. get over the fact that some people who use it are DOPES to begin with, it doesn't necessarily cause them to turn out that way (there are exceptions).

not to hijack this thread again, but mountain biking as a general whole wouldn't be where it was if it wasn't for marijuana. how do you think mountain bikes originated? potheads in Marin County put wide tires on their cruisers so they could ride into the woods and cultivate.

they go hand in hand. end of story.

He won the canadian nationals again this year too. But other then that I don't know anything about him but i would choose Brynn over him any day for a few reasons. 1) Brynn is a macdaddy, I accidentally saw him makin out with jill kintner in the pitts at snowmass 2) Laurin is part french and they suck 3) Bryn had real solid results this year and is one of the cooler pros I talked to and 4)hes auzzie, might as well have the whole madcatz team auzzie.

Im sure that IH/MC would love to have Bryn back but it costs a lot of money to sign a rider that goes as fast as he does, especially since he had an awesome year in 04. It sounds like he will end up in a good program and hopefully he will get all that he deserves. Keep it pinned Bryn.

Costs less than you think to sign a rider that goes as fast as he does...

and, I can NOT believe someone in here uttered the words "mountain biking would not be where it was without pot".
Not only is that the dumbest thing I heard so far this year, but probably ever. MTBing would be light years ahead of where it is now if it were not for weed.

Oh crap-I am a victim of threadjacking and now a willing participant.

I return you to your regularly scheduled thread....

Yeah, I have no clue as to this Bryn news??? please let us know!!
