This would be funny if he weren't doing a serious disservice to those kids.

Their Own Version of a Big Bang
Those who believe in creationism -- children and adults -- are being taught to challenge evolution's tenets in an in-your-face way.

By Stephanie Simon, Times Staff Writer

WAYNE, N.J. — Evangelist Ken Ham smiled at the 2,300 elementary students packed into pews, their faces rapt. With dinosaur puppets and silly cartoons, he was training them to reject much of geology, paleontology and evolutionary biology as a sinister tangle of lies.

"Boys and girls," Ham said. If a teacher so much as mentions evolution, or the Big Bang, or an era when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, "you put your hand up and you say, 'Excuse me, were you there?' Can you remember that?"

The children roared their assent.

"Sometimes people will answer, 'No, but you weren't there either,' " Ham told them. "Then you say, 'No, I wasn't, but I know someone who was, and I have his book about the history of the world.' " He waved his Bible in the air.

"Who's the only one who's always been there?" Ham asked.

"God!" the boys and girls shouted.

"Who's the only one who knows everything?"

"God!"

"So who should you always trust, God or the scientists?"

The children answered with a thundering: "God!"

Dear lord, we have stooped to a new low.

It scares me to think that there are people like this in the world today. What is worse is they have the power to vote.

It gets better. You can visit the creation museum in Northern Kentucky (near Cincinnati).

When you are there, you can learn all about how humans used to put saddles on Triceratops and ride them around like horses.
You've got to love the two-pronged approach: 1) Science is a batch of lies seamlessly coupled with 2) We have scientific proof that evolution is bunk!

Anyone remember Douglas Adams' classic, but underrated, "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency?" There was a labor-saving device called an 'electronic monk' which believed things for you, saving you the trouble of bothering. It could hold like 23 simultaneous contradictory beliefs. Alas, it looks like it's not needed in reality...

Ed: Wow, I think I figured it out. The guy in that picture above (I assume is the orator in the first post? I hate dialup...) is really a super-clone made from Abe Lincoln, and he's trying to cover the tracks of his creation by eliminating science...

Even worse,
There are freaks out there who teach their kids that its ok for two boys to kiss and that if you get a baby inside you, its acceptable to kill it to avoid the responsibility.

Burley, I get your point, but you're jumbling value judgements with the scientific method, and it's just not good parallel structure.

Well I think we all agree that this guy is obviously retarded and to have your kids listen to him is something of a value judgement.

I was 10 when I first read it, and unlike Hitchhiker's, it was a bit obscure, as I really hadn't yet discovered Coleridge on my own yet.

Alas, it seems to be out of print. I keep trying to find a copy for my wife...bet I can find a used copy through Amazon, tho. Great idea! Thanks!

No Burley, it isn't worse, and you are doubly wrong on at least one count. MikeD already answered you, but I want to add something.

It is OK for 2 boys to kiss. There is, in fact, nothing wrong with it. The scientific evidence seems to point to homosexuality being a trait that people are born with, so to deny that would actually be a travesty. Even if it isn't an inborn trait, if 2 boys want to kiss, so what?

I notice that you also specifically said "boys". Is it OK for two girls to kiss? If it is, then what's the difference?

As for abortion, it is a lot more complex than simply burying one's head in the sand and saying, "I'm not an ape, I'm created by god."

For the love of gawd, that is ALWAYS okay and should be encouraged at every opportunity. It's a sign of strength and character and is the natural evolution from the common pillow fight.
Uh oh, we might have to get the LPFC involved.
