Just curious if any actually thought Kerry would be a good pres had he won? With all the fur that's flying today, this might offer some interesting perspective.

I voted Kerry, but only because he was the lesser of the two evils, IMO.

Kerry was the lesser of two evils, no doubt about it. I voted against Bush, not for Kerry.

This is why i really have lost all respect for John McCain - he would have had my vote in '00, however now he has reduced himself to a bush lapdog.

All my local votes were 90% in line with the republicans...

That was Kerry's problem... he didn't have any real support personally.

Dean was the real democrat but got the smackdown by the Clintons.

I really don't think Kerry could have ever counted on hate to put him in the White House.

I believe you are correct...I also voted for Kerry only because I thought he was the lesser of the two evils, not because I really thought Kerry was a great candidate.

All hate aside, it's time to go back to being Americans and being proud to be one, even though we have an idiot for a leader...
How can you call the leader that the majority of Americans voted for a moron, and then still say you're proud to be an American?

Yo're saying that you're proud that your contry has deemed a moron as the best person to represent them and rule over them...

I defend that amendment... Which one is it? OH YEAH, the FIRST amendment right to free speech. THATS how I can say that. And I am proud to be an American because of the process that just happened. 125 million people turned out to vote. Bush was elected and I fight the wars he says for me to fight. I dont like it, but I do it because I am proud to defend this country. And because I do that, I WILL be heard and I WILL express my opinion.

Or, in other words: "I am proud to be an American because we have democracy. Hell, I fight in wars that I don't necessarily believe in just because I am told to do it; because I have a uniform on, [God, Allah, my mom] isn't looking. My patriotism overrides all sense of right and wrong. I am better than you because I can do that."

I am not attacking you on the concept of being a soldier doing your duty. I just don't like your arguments for it.

Is that the amendment that allows me to protest (if I were to do so… haven’t yet b/c I think most of them are F’ing retards), yet I would now be forced to protest only where and when the government allows me to do so?

So you are proud to defend America... Did you fight in Afghanistan or Iraq? Because one is a justifiable action to stop those who HAVE attacked and killed Americans, the other is a lie.

But will you be beleived, or thought of as another lying American?

Yes, I fought in both of those, and I fought in Desert Storm. I agree whole heartedly with the reason to go into Afghanistan. I was on Operation Anaconda up in Tora Bora and yes, I was proud to be there fighting for my country. But I want you to look me square in the eye and tell me that you believe we need to be in Iraq.

And as far as being a lying American, I personally dont care one bit what the rest of the world thinks about me. I let the life I've lived speak for my verasity.

I don't think you understood me - I don't think we should be in Iraq. I agree with actions in Afganistan... but Iraq is a lie!

Well I personally take offense to being insulted and therefore feel the need to defend myself.

Don't tempt me to resort to the name calling and generalizations that others in this forum are now taking up. Not only is it not my style but it accomplishes nothing. Why not discuss what I said rather than invite me to waste my words?

No, its not my style either. But I enjoy a heated political debate. When I said attack me, I meant attack my position not me as a human being. I agree that the afore mentioned name calling degrades us all. As far as that post about telling that wanna be canadian to leave the country, I think I was on par with his intelligence level.

You asked if had been to Iraq and I responded that I was in BOTH Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. I dont believe in it either. I lost 2 VERY long time friends that I came into the army with in 1990. I'm still very bitter about the whole thing. And THIS is why I think that Bush is an idiot. I dont think he knew what we were getting into in Iraq. I think that he figured a quick victory and the people of Iraq would kiss our butts for saving them. But if you look at the history of the region, these people have been fighting for THOUSANDS of years and will continue to fight long after we're gone.

Slug man you are a jack ass.

49% of us are political prisoners in this country and we are VERY PROUD to be Americans. The fact that a bare 51% majority has taken over our government and is acting against our wishes and stripping us of our rights does not alter that it just makes us more angry and worried about the future.

Everyone read my post under "Riots" -I think we should start an upside down flag campaign. Flying the flag upside down is a well known distress signal. If we all, (All 49% of us who didn't lose our mind and turn into Religious freaks and maral bigots that is) did this it would be a strong and visible symbol of our feelings. Rioting is BS it would just further undermine us and our cause and get us jailed or beaten. We need to continue to support our soldiers and our nation even if we don't agree at all with the extrermist group who has taken it over right now.

Show your colors, say we are proud of the USA and what it stands for even if we are political prisoners within it for these 8 (damn that scares the F out of me) years.

49% of one of the worlds biggest and the most powerful country are still proud right minded americans. We all know which way you are skewing it Slugman! If you want to vocalize your shame about it then move to IRAN where everyone else hates us too. Otherwise smarten up and do something or say something positive.

Whoa! My apologies Slugman, I meant hippyKai.
my dislike of US policy and actions isn't new to this election. My plan has been to move out as soon as i have an opportunity to do so for many years. I have traveled to many places in the world and they all view us in about the same way...they don't like us much. And that makes me sad to realize i don't like us either.

yes 49% are still proud even though there policical views are not taken by the gov....but if either candidate had been elected i would still feel that the govs view is narrow and monitarily driven.

i'm not saying that any country has it right...but i agree more with choices made in other places than i do with the ones made here.
