If the average age is 11.... 8 was the youngest 15 the oldest. What parent in their everlivin' right mind dumps their 8 year old into a situation like this.... I mean f'ing seriously. At least crack mamas have crack to blame.

    Then this...

DUH! Or did you not read Lord of the Flies.... of course not.

This is retarded. When I first saw the preview of kids whining about stupid crap, I thought, "WTF is wrong with a.) TV b.) Parents c.) Viewers."

Then I rememberred, a.) Reality Ratings because people are stupid b.) People are stupid c.) People are stupid.

I love that quote...."Alleging the experiece bordered on abuse and neglect"

What do you think of when you have a contract in front of you and it says that the kids will be alone for 40 days...? I mean really...spelled out....right there....No supervision....40 days......40 kids....

I think it would mean that they'd be put up in the Ritz Carlton for 40 days and given spa treatments at least 3 times a day...with happy endings for the older kids....but that's just me...

I was completely shocked when I heard the premise of this show as well. What parent in their right mind would put their child in this type of situation? :disgust1:

It's kind of a shame that the kids didn't murder all the film crew and producers. :disgust1:

Anyone who allowed their child to be a part of this should be investigated by child services!

    I can assure you that:

a.) The Lord of the Flies movie is better.

2.) There will be no bloodshed. (For shame...from the previews some of the kids looked like they were about to throw down...)

c.) Your time has been better spent reading this post than giving a second thought to the crap that is "Kid Nation"....

    Hmmm...side note:

Ever watch "The Rundown" with The Rock and Sean William Scott?

Remember how every single time Stiffler was on the screen talking, walking, or just standing there you wanted The Rock to just take his throat and rip his larynx out?

That's what reality tv does to me. I just want some big dude to bust through a wall like the Kool-Aid juice guy and start ripping out larynx's...

I wonder if kids would naturally re-enact "lord of the flies" if they were left on a tropical island for 40 days?

    Hey...different strokes and such...

But there needs to be some serious life self-examination if you enjoy watching a 10 year-old primadonna "beauty queen" whine about doing chores and dressing like a freakin' Tombstone extra reject.

    i'm just sayin'...

And for Halloween, I'm always so wasted that I:
a.) can barely make it to the door
b.) if I make it, barely hold myself upright
c.) scare half the parents away because they're not sure if it's fake barf or real barf on the front stairs...

Nah...I keep those for the door-to-door sales people. I pass myself off as a dentist and get them to show me proper brushing technique. When they question me about the aroma and taste I simply state that their dentist has lied to them and that's how real toothpaste tastes...

I would have loved to do that as a kid.
    No adults for 40 days.
Tons of kids your own age.
    Getting hella paid.
If you get hurt or in trouble, the network gets blamed.
Those kids are as lucky as they are exploited.

Pffff...bitch please! So what? There are four year old kids working in sweatshops sewing crappy clothes for Walmart and 120 dollar sneakers with douchebag basketball players names on em or selling their bodies for food in almost every other country in the world...I'm sick of bitches complaining about Americans...so a bunch of kids that are probably a bunch of spoiled brats to begin with get tossed into a ghost town for forty days...once the show airs, they'll all be on the talk show circuit and probably think that's the coolest thing...

Form a 17 year olds point of view i dont see anything wrong with it (besides mabey 8 being alittle young for the show) they sit around for 40 days be on tv and get paid for it. That being said im not going to waste my time watching it, reality shows blow.

Of course it's not a good idea...

The parents who let their kids do this are idiots and if I had a kid, there is no way in hell I would consider allowing my child to do something like this.

But tell me how this excerpt from the article differs from any slumber party or sleep away camp:

Tears, fears and homesickness are captured up-close

Although, we never had bleach in soda bottles sitting around for accidental consumption at slumber parties or sleep away camp! :D

Check this out from the article...I knew there was no way they'd leave those kids alone...they even had an animal wrangler on hand!

Creator-producer Tom Forman ("Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and "Armed and Famous") maintains there was "a large adult safety net" in place during production. He doesn't mean the phalanx of CBS lawyers who tweaked the definition of "work." Forman said pediatricians, child psychologists and an animal wrangler were standing by.

How is sitting on a message board or camping in front of the tv every week for years glued to Friends or Melrose Place any less stupid than watching reality tv...
