some random accident @ camp, playing 'freeze tag'. both bones. 
when i was in the forth grade i broke my right arm just below the elbow from trying to catch myself after falling off the monkey bars, and i had the same kind of cast.

Side note: I wish they had offered Sq-Earl a colored cast when he broke his wrist. His white one got nasty dirty and fast!!!

My little neighbor broke her wrist when she was 2 or 3 years old.
She honestly did not have the cast on for 2 whole weeks and she was already entirely healed. Kids rule.

BTDT, fell off a 15' cliff in the neighborhood I grew up in. I think I must've been in 3rd or 4th grade at the time. Young bones heal quick, he'll be fine.
I know mine didn't. Actually I broke it. Try explaining that in the hostpital.

the full arm casts suck, i had two, and don't let him do what i do..
-cut it to a short arm
-cut the thumb off
-take the cast off
give him a clothes hanger to itch, it just so happens a pen cap will come off and get stuck

actually he's surprisingly resistant to any help and wants to remain fully self-sufficient.

All of my kids wipeouts have thankfully been benign for the most part.
Although the bike jumping will probably result in something a bit more "lasting" at some point.
