I don't get this
But parents complained that they weren't able to get in touch with their kids and were paying for a monthly plan that wasn't being fully used, Trifunovic said. Parents were also concerned that the cellphone would be lost or stolen, even though the phones are kept in a locked cabinet.
So shouldn't you be busting your kid's head for getting his/her phone confiscated? How is it the school's fault?

Ideally the situation would be;
Parents- wawawa, piss and moan cell phone
School- tell it to the hand
Be nice if more schools told parents to go and stick their heads up a dead bears bum.

My son told me that at his school, kids were allowed to to get up and walk out of class in order to take a call. No "can I be excused?" or even check to see who he call was from.

He didn't have his own phone then, but I'm sure our daughter will have a phone soon enough. I don't like the idea of it being a class distraction though, school comes first.

So gone are the days when your parents called the main office and the secretary with the annoying voice announced over the intercom for all to hear "Jim Montgumery, Please come to the main office, your Mother just called to say that your Grandma died."

That's what I was thinking too at first. But I think people are concerned about the kid not having his phone when he's not at school. They way it was written wasn't clear. But I think they are confiscating the phones entirely. The parents have to go pick it up.

Bottom line though, if you choose to arm your kid with a cell phone, then it's up to you to teach your kid to not get it taken away.
