Hi there -
I currently use Roach Indy pads for trailriding. They slip all over the place and are a total pain, because my legs are relatively skinny. I think I bought the medium size, which are too short (therefore they slip), but fit my calves; the larger size were the correct length (to just above the ankle), but the velcro wouldn't even work correctly because I needed about 20 lbs of leg beef, apparently.

I don't have my calf measurements, but I can say that I'm 6'0", 148 lbs, 33.25" inseam.

Could some skinny guys speak up as to what knee/shin armor stays in place for them? I'd prefer something that is relatively light, cool and has back of leg coverage too.

Also - are there any armor manufacturers that do custom-sizing?

Thanks!

But my problem with the Roach Indys, at least, is if I were to get the correct length (Large size), then I would have to do some serious modifications of the whole pad - there would be like 4 inches of padding / material that would need to be removed. It's not simply a matter of shortening the velco or straps.

All else fails, go to the fabric store, buy a few inches of which ever side of velcro you need, sew that crap on there and problem solved! :thumb:

the 661 4x4s are great for trailriding. They will accomodate skinny mofo's (I know, because I am one) They are really flexable, which is good and bad. Its good, because they are flexable for riding. they are also fairly light. Its bad because, the reason they are flexible is that they jut have strips of plastic inside the cloth. This is perfect for trail riding, GREAT protection against pedal bite, and if you go down on dirt or gravel or somthing, they will save your skin.

I would not recommend them for serious DH or FR though. If you go down in a big rock garden, or slam a tree or rock, they do not protect you quite as well as I would like them to. I have two sets of pads, the 4x4s for trails and street, and the Roach DH for DH and big stunts and stuff.

I am 6' 155 and have chicken legs also. I got the large roach dh pads for the length. Put the velcro as far as it will go then wrap some tape around them to tighten em up. I have takes some pretty hard crashes and they dont move at all. Easily the best pads I have ever had.
