A new large-scale climate study just released finds - once again - that global warming is real, and largely confirms the studies that have been done before.

Why is this important? Because this was an independent study, done by scientists using private funding, so there is little or no government influence. And better yet - are your schadenfreude and irony meters calibrated for this? - the single biggest lump of funds for this study came from the ultra-conservative Koch brothers, who have pumped millions of dollars into the climate change denial industry.

I give some details on the study in the link below. My biggest concern at this point is that it's not peer-reviewed. However, the scientists involved are known for being cautious (Saul Perlmutter, who just won the Nobel prize in physics for his role in the discovery of dark energy, is one of the researchers), and they have posted all their data and methods for people to see. And Richard Muller leads the team - he is an actual climate change skeptic, someone who wants to make sure that the evidence is correctly gathered and examined. So I expect the findings will hold up.

And I'll note that even Muller admits the new findings support the idea of anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming...

I think the brothers were anticipating a different result.
Doubtful. Policy positions are "free", whereas actual circumstances that affect financial outcomes are not. The Koch brothers and the rest of the corporatists are going to deny climate change is happening (since it's profitable for them to do so), while making business decisions based on the fact that it *is* happening. People (usually) act a whole lot smarter when it's their own money on the line instead of just hot air. Think about all the people claiming that there's going to be a massive bout of hyper-inflation compared with the relatively few number of people who are actually going out and shorting US Treasuries, for instance.

DING DING DING! Step right up here folks, we have a winner! Playing one side while expecting the other is quite profitable.

the beef i have w/ the deniers is they'll claim higher readings in urban areas skew the results, and dismiss that populations are becoming denser....which creates more urban areas, which creates more warming.

by my count, i see 3 dots to connect, and it makes a 3-sided polygon.
even i can do that without having to move my lips

if it's in your link, it wasn't obvious to me.
the study i would care to read should be summed up w/ a pie chart, like this:
