I really don't like the suspension design on konas.

That being said,

What an (otherwise) perfect frame! A STRAIGHT seattube, wicked low standover, high build quality....wow. If it were horst I'd buy 2. Regardless, congrats.

Nice bike.
what upgrades you have planned?
SRAM deraillers and shifters for starters...then a fork depending how this one works for me...

I took a hiatus from riding but up until last year we were riding all over - urban in worc, west boylston, green hill, mid-state trail in Rutland, borderland, etc. Where do you ride?

Are you basing that on actual experience? Because having ridden an M1 for a couple of years, then a single pivot for a couple years, and having ridden several Stinky's and Stabs, there's really not that much difference unless you are dragging your brakes all the time. With all the advances in shock valving and pivot placement, the advantages of a Horst link are much smaller than 5 years ago.

Cheap Kona peeps, putting frign LX on a stink. WTF?
Hey guess what? Just like every other manufacturer, they make bikes at several price points, from the Deore/LX bike right up to the Saint/SRAM X9 bike. And they even sell bare frames for people who want to build the bike up themselves.

I thought Kona went with Race Face for it's cranks? Or is that only on it's XC line?

probably cheaper to use castings already made than to build or create new ones.

They probably had enough parts lying around to make a good frame, and it's a good way to lower the cost.

Just updated with a new 170mm RC :blah: (new seat too)
Rode it Saturday and it was awesome. This is the happiest I've been with a bike.....:sneaky: Should I build a hardtail now?
