We walked another 7 1/2 miles of trails at Otter Creek this past weekend. We walked the section of trail between the Frolf (Frisbee Golf) Course and highway 1638, down the switchbacks to the Garnettsville parking lot and downstream to the Blue Hole takeout.

There are several fallen trees across the trail with a few really challenging tangles we'll have to work through. There is also a lot of debris and a washed out section on the Otter Creek Trail by the creek. We'll be rerouting a few sections due to some of the deadfall, erosion, add some flow and distance.

In the next few weeks we'll be flagging the reroutes and marking downed trees. I'll post more information (directions and times) as it comes available.

Til then you can come out to our other trail work days:
Cherokee Park: 1st Saturday of the Month
O'Bannon Woods: 2nd Saturday of the Month
Waverly Park: 3rd: Saturday of the Month
Otter Creek ORA: 4th Saturday of the Month

Check out the new KyMBA page on Feb 1st and look for rides on the Louisville Mountain Bike Meetup Page: http://www.meetup.com/Louisville-Mountainbikers/

See ya'll on the trail,

Hello trail enthusiasts. Here is the dirt on next weekend's trail day at Otter Creek,

KyMBA and the KY Department of Fish and Wildlife invite you to the first of several Mountain Bike/Hike trail work days at Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area. The park closure and ice storm has taken their toll. However, with some good old hard work we can have most of the trails open again by late Spring/early Summer. We have downed trees to cut through, debris to clean up, some erosion control work and paint and stencils to mark the trail corridor.

When: Saturday, February 26th at 8:30 am SHARP! The park gate cannot be left open. We will be working as long as possible so bring a lunch if you want to stay all day.

What to Bring: Work gloves, sturdy shoes, water (bottled or in a camelback), lunch, loppers/trimmers , chainsaws with PPE and lots of energy.

Do not to Bring: Your Bike, the trails need much more TLC before they can be ridden.

Contact Vince Carman for more information: nailhead455@yahoo.com or 502-442-9692
