So my wife got home from her hike early and told me to get lost for a couple hours.
Say no more.
Tossed all the requisite $hit into the Subaru and headed up to the local hill. Parked and was surprised by the obvious lack of people around. There were probably 8 cars in the parking lot.
Headed out on the perimeter trail to get the blood flowing. Ended up sucking wind. No big surprise there. Hit the climb and sucked more wind. Then rounded a corner and was greeted by 30mph sustained winds. Stuff nearly blew me over several times.
Wind kept up as I hit the fire road on the top of the hill. Headed to the "summit" and then down the ridge trail to the west. Quickly rode the spine of the ridge and then dropped off the end. The descent was loose and squirrly - I nearly bit it one time but bailed semi-gracefully off the back end of the bike. Finished up the ride with a return on the perimeter trail and a quick foray in the sole "rock garden" on the hill.
All in all, a good quick ride. Now my back is hurting again.
I should ride more often.
