La Tour de Ben, day three

pigboy

in a galaxy far, far away
more riding from Concord, MA. google maps fails us today as it has no idea that there are old railroad right-of-ways that are now bike/pedestrian trails.

mileage: 50.7
time: 3hrs 20minutes
avg speed: 15.2mph
route: backroads, state highways and super awesome paved bike and pedestrian trail
stops: Bikeways Source bike shop in Bedford, MA for food, water bottles and water.
riding: Giant hybrid commuter bike

noteable crap: Carlisle, MA does not believe that shoulders are necessary. Concord, MA has mixed opinions. Lexington was more consistent in dishing out wider shoulders. at mile 44+ if you sprint start away from a traffic light you may pull an ass/hamstring muscle. I sort of did.... :disgust1:

NOTE: the Bedford to Cambridge leg of this route is not accurate. nor is the Lexington back to Bedford leg. i was on the paved bike trail for those sections which is why my googlemaps mileage and odometer mileage do not match. the bike shop guy said that the bikeway is about 10 miles from Bedford to Alewife T station. There's another couple miles to Davis Square in Cambridge that I missed, but i'm plenty tired and didn't need any urban riding today.

i think that puts me at 94+ miles for the past three days. now it's time for two days of recovery and eating like a starving college student before the VT 50 on Sunday.
