The ridiculous thing about this story is that breast feeding is not against the vegan lifestyle. If the mother is vegan, her milk isn't contaminated with any "other" animal products. Most vegans obstain from eating animal products because of the ethical issues involved, like treatment of animals. Pumping milk out of a cow with a machine for human consumption would be considered cruel, but a cow letting it's offspring nurse isn't. So humans breast feeding isn't against the vegan lifestlye because it's a voluntary action by an animal to sustain offspring. These morons deserve everything they get. By their logic, every creature on the planet should stop nursing it's young. Idiots.
According to what I know of the Vegan ideology, it is. Veganism is traditionally more of a belief movement than a health movement. Vegans feel that anything that imposes on animals for the benefit of humans should be considered cruel treatment.
I still think it's funny that this couple is blaming their veganism on not breast feeding, because real vegans aren't anti-breast feeding.
Note-I am not a vegan. I like In-N-Out burger too much.

I was a vegetarian for 6 years for no reason other than my mother's horrible cooking, and two years in student housing (which get the same grade meat as prisons). My 6 years as a vegetarian ended at an In-N-Out burger in Salinas on the way to Sea Otter one year. Yummy Yummy in my Tummy!
I think they should be covered in In-n-Out burgers and fed to hungry pigs while still alive.
Then they would finally understand that eating bacon isn't just fun, it's an obligation to the human race. It's the only way to keep them from eating us.
