Hey All--
Well, yesterday I decided to ride around Lake Tahoe. Figured that since the wife was working, and I didn't want to be home while the step-son was there (remember my "tough love" post?), I'd take advantage of the beautiful day.
Started at about 10:15 in the morn, and rode clockwise (about 1-2 miles shorter that way). Mind you, I've ridden only a handful of times since February, so being in shape I was not. Had plenty of water, food, and spare tubes (never know), though I was a doofus and forgot my gloves and helmet. Oh well, better be careful. Stopped every so often to leave a message on the wife's phone so she'd know about where I was (you know, in case I got hit or something), and just rode with my thoughts. Did fine until I got to Sand Harbor, as that climb out to Spooner Summit kicked my backside. Stopped several times, and started getting cramps in my legs. Walked the cramps off, and was relieved when I started down from Spooner. Road construction on Highway 50 made for an interesting time, but when I saw the casinos, I knew I was home free.
Finished in 5hrs38min. I guess that's not too bad. Granted, dinner and a beer really hit the spot when I got home. Now it's time to cross-train and mow the grass.
