The heli's only fly to 14,000...the burros took the bikes up to 15,500, (trail too steep to ride) after which we rode down to 7,000. Very good day! The burro handler broke my front brake hose, and it was a 'porcupine-esque' DH. Man, that was a test of skillset day. Another friend collided with a sheep, and broke his ass....funny stuff!!
The next day I had to fix the hayes by begging a syringe and some resperator hose from a outreach clinic (we were maybe 7,000 miles or so from any Hayes dealer), and bummed some dot 4 from a dude fixing his tractor. Fix worked, and there was much rejoicing.

 Is this an annual event for you? Lucky bastard.
How difficult are the logistics? Is it an "all-your-ass-covered-tour" thing? Or is it more of a get there, pay 5-year olds to teach you whats up, and pray to god you get to the heli on time kinda thing? This looks like it might be one of those must-do's before I'm to old to ride.

Helping Frank out eh? Great guy. He's getting ready for a long summer on the road!

Yes BuddhaRoadkill, I've been to Peru, but didn't ride there, and it is a must-do before you die kinda thing. I will be back to ride as soon as I can...

This is going to be my tenth trip. Every time we go to a different part of the country for 7-9 days of really, really intense riding. I am part of a group of 35 Peruvians who do this, (I am the only gringo), and then after we do our 'peruvian' trip, I take clients/friends/bro's on a modified redo of the best of the previous week.
I have been going with the same guides for four years now, they know what we are looking for.
All expenses are taken care of, in general, hotels, meals, transport, guides, Chicas...well, maybe not. Trips can vary in cost, but I try to go to the finest restaurants, and stay in really nice places. It is HARD riding, and CUSH relaxing.
This trip should be fantastic, we will be doing the MegaAvalanche course, as well as many, many others. We can also do HUGE climbing days, if the group so desires...up to 16,000 feet!
The mothership: fridge, AC, 4X4....check.
