I need to fly from SAN to ORD around March 25th to 31st or so. Seems I can't find cheap tickets because I don't have 14 days notice. With 14 day notice, tickets are ~$170.

My exact travel dates don't matter, just want to be in Chicago around those dates. Also, flight time of day doesn't matter. Prefer to have less than 1 connection.

Anyway I can still get a sub $200 flight?

well, I just booked/flew a flight within a week of getting it. From Oakland to Phoenix non stop was just about $300. um...it sucked. that was via southwest, too..

Try Hotwire.com. You put in the date range and they give you prices, but you don't get to pick your times (you can specify no overnight, or early morning). It's kind of priceline in reverse, and where airlines send a lot of seats that didn't sell at normal prices. Tends to be a good place to go within 2 wks. I once got $88 R/T Bos to San Francisco with them...
