Sounds great! I love good oysters.

Not a huge fan of calamari of lobster... would substitute eel and crab legs. but sounds like you have fun!

We went to the soft opening -- a restuarant practices the night or two before a real opening -- at Montecito (where Piscos on 6th used to be, for locals).

Had the Caesar salad... awesome garlic anchovy dressing. And the steak so tender and tasty.

the haida candy was amazing. I never had brown sugar smoked wild BC salmon before.

the smallest lobster they had was 2 & 1/2 lbs.

In a van.... down by the river
Lessee.... what did I have last night?

Started out with a very yummy bowl of Manhattan style clam chowder. Hadn't ever had any. It was *very* good.

Next was a bit of foie gras goodness with a sheep's milk cheese bechamel.

Main course was tenderloin au poivre which was killer.

Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake filled with chocolate mousse.

Dinner was *good.*

:D

clams, soup/broth, and tomatoes...one of these things does not belong. :disgust1:

had a pretty great meal @ a french bistro last night (brasserie jo); duck confit w/ braised lentils. also came w/ some frisee that had a lot of vinegar (cut the richness of the duck very well), and i ordered a side of haricot verts (not so great, overdone). the duck legs were phenomenal, though, and pretty cheap ($17). had a bottle of chave 'offerus' from st joseph too (rhone), which wasn't as good as i remembered. maybe '01 wasn't such a great year.

It was quite a bit like a seafood stew, really. Reminded me of cioppino, which I've had before and liked. Besides, I don't really like that creamy clam chowder much. :D

We had an E. Guigal Hermitage ('01) which was somewhat underwhelming, especially for the price.

Went to this gentleman's home for dinner last evening.

To start:
Artichoke-red pepper relish on toasted garlic crostini
Beef tenderloin, blue cheese-horseradish cream on chile won ton
Jumbo lump Maryland crab cakes with some kind of remoulade
Grilled figs with a goat cheese mousse

Then we sat down to:
Field greens w/ dried cherries, pecans, crumbled gorganzola, and a sherry balsamic vinaigrette
Loin of lamb wellington with wild mushroom duxelles
Grilled prawns with passionfruit glaze
Yukon gold, sweet, and purple potatoes with wilted garlic arugula

The dessert buffet included:
Bittersweet chocolate truffles
Chocolate covered strawberries
Citrus Flan
and a bunch of other stuff I can't recall

yep, that's around the corner. have only eaten there twice, and it's been a really long time. that place is outstanding.

since i've been to so many music shows this year, the wife and i haven't been out to a nice dinner in forever.
