Too bad that is a .com website and not .gov

It is registered anonymously, so who know who runs it or how credible it actually is...

Does anyone else see numbers like that and see a split down the middle?

Sure it looks good/bad depending who you are. But to me as far as estimates go that is pretty much down the middle split.

*shrug* maybe it is just me.......

If it were 370/152 or 152/370 then I would recognize a distinct leaning to a candidate over another.

Did I ever mention I hate statistics, and their little brothers, polls?

N8, do you feel the 2000 elections were won fairly by Bush?

Jesus... how many vote counts do you want? Ever single one conducted by all the news/interest groups in FL came up with Bush the winner.
Get over it.

However, the Dims have just a tad over 60 "Bush Stole the Election" days to get the story out there....

http://www.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/12/09/president.election/

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (CNN) -- Though sharply divided, the U.S. Supreme Court stepped in Saturday to stop the court-ordered manual count of tens of thousands of presidential election ballots in Florida.

George W. Bush campaign workers responded to the order with "subdued exuberance." Ron Klain, a legal advisor to Vice President Al Gore, said the campaign is "obviously disappointed."

The high court voted 5-4 to stop a recount that had been ordered Friday by the Florida Supreme Court to address claims by Gore that some votes cast for him on November 7 were never counted.

One dissenter, Justice John Paul Stevens, wrote that "the legitimacy of the election" might be forever stained if the recount was stopped.

...

Seven of the nine Supreme Court justices were appointed by Republican presidents. In recent years, the court often has had a narrow conservative majority and that appeared to be the case in the decision to hear this appeal, one of the most dramatic and consequential in decades.

The Florida Supreme Court ruling on Friday that led to Saturday's federal action ordered a manual recount of at least 42,858 "undervotes" in as many as 58 Florida counties.

Undervotes are ballots that never registered a vote for either presidential candidate when they were first tabulated by machines. Democrats believe enough were cast for Gore to let him win Florida and the presidency.

Friday's ruling had also reduced Bush's lead over Gore from the certified 537 to 154 by ordering the addition of votes from partial recounts in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.
given that the margin was 154 after the partial recounts, a recount certainly would seem in order. 154.

How about the votes that were not counted? Seems like someone who ignores all of the evidence in front of them in order to follow a political party deserves to wear a tinfoil hat just as much as someone who supposedly makes the evidence up..... you should update your sig to include you and Changleen.

edit: where->wear

the article from cnn that i posted seemed to show that the margin between the candidates was shrinking as the recounts progressed, and was down to 152 when the recounts were halted by the supreme court. do you have evidence that shows that bush's margin of "victory" in florida was increasing or holding steady?

Bush is over 300 EC votes now on this quite left-leaning site...

Time to cue the :nopity: 's
meh. that site's counter is quite worthless as it tallies the (admitted) even and barely-leaning-either-way states solidly in either the bush or kerry corners. and those electoral votes are huge: switch ohio and florida to the kerry side and we basically have a dead heat.

How about all the folks in western FL who were on their way to the polls but turned around and went home when the "news" prematurely (and incorrectly) stated that Gore has won the state? Western FL is has a very high percentage of Republicans, and undoubtedly there would have been tens of thousands of additional votes for Bush added to that slim margin.

How about THOSE votes that didn't get to "count"?

Are you suggesting that the democrats went on and voted anyway?

No worries this time though, the election will not be even be close.

Bush will take it in a landslide.

I mean just look at ultra-lib California where Kerry has a tiny lead of only 5% (48% to Bush's 43%)...

*Ahem*
If you would read the post, you'd see that the majority of voters in western FL are Republican. SO, if 3 out of 4 voters are Republican, then for every missed Gore vote that went "uncounted" there would be three missed Bush votes that went uncounted. So the balance would have shifted enormously in Bush's favor.

So you're saying only voters in western florida heard the newscast?

Kerry does not have the peoples confidence and seems to never really say what he means.
Actually Kerry does a tremendous job of saying what he means. That's what makes him so long-winded (though if you've actually watched him speak in more than soundbites, he's actually quite good). Did you intend to say he never means what he says? That would make more sense since he doesn't do the whole "forceful conviction" emotion as well as Bush. I would argue almost no politician means what he says though.

How do you know that 3 of 4 voters were Republican - they didn't vote...

Or is this the spectre of Republican democracy rising once more?

If you truly are omniscient then you should declare the results now and save everyone a lot of money.
