I was just curious to see if anyone had any experience w/ Lazer helmets -- in particular, their full face "Factory Rider" or "Excalibur" helmet.
I know they've been around for a while now, but I've rarely seen them in the US (although they do have distributers here. They seem to be more popular in Europe (being a belgium company)

thanks!

I rode the 2003 full face MX this year...Alittle heavier, but MX style protection. made very well, fits really well and cheap as all get out. Nice visor and speed wing included. 2 thumbs up in my book

I wore an Excaliber all last year and really liked it. Nice venting, comfy fit, and good protection - I slammed my head a few times with no ill effects (unless you count peeing my pants every time someone fires up the microwave at the office).

I got one for $50 when Lazer was clearing them out. The helmet is very comfortable for my big head. The only very minor problem is that there are some very little "stress" cracks where the goggle straps first meet the helmet, but they are covered by the goggles. I have never really hit my head with it on so I can't comment on how well it would hold up in a crash. I would highly recommend them and the only thing that would prevent me from getting another would be paying retail. I just don't like my chrome visor (by the way, nice pictures):

I checked out the exact helmet you show in the photo there. Chris Wyatt that works at Maxxis has it and it seemed pretty nice. Weight was on par with a D2 and the Mad Max. We wanted to go with them last year...but they were only distributed through QBP and they weren't throwing anybody a bone.

speaking of MadMax....has anybody looked over on giro's site and seen the '05 MadMax S IN THE SNOWBOARD '05 section!! It's the Mad Max, only with most of the rear vents covered over and the paint jobs are BADASS! The white one has a sick silver on it....COOL!

I can't copy the photos so you'll have to see for your self!!!!

Where the riding is good
I've had my lazer (the same one at the top of this thread), since nearly the beginning of the season. Awesome helmet - the thing came with about 4 different combinations of inner pad sizes, and they are super soft; it's really held up to a few good beatings while dirt jumping, and the visor just keeps on tickin'. Also, you can actually hear people through this helmet very well because of where the vents are located - very nice. I'm impressed and will buy more in the future.
