Did a big ride yesterday. it felt great. but my local trails are definitely getting IMBA-fied. What's disappointing is that my buddies are lapping it up. I want old-school. It doesn't have to be mega-tech-gnar all the time, just more than berm-table-berm-hip-berm-berm-table-table-hip-berm. If I'm going to climb for 2 hours over the course of a day, a little variety would be nice... 10 minute downhills get repetitive after a while.
for anyone interested I rode Family Jewel to Growler, then Boneshaker, then Dream:

Family Jewel and the upper half of Boneshaker are the only natural stuff in there...

I mean, don't get me wrong, it was still an awesome day, riding with some buddies and enjoying a beer from a deck afterwards...

now I'm in the cube farm.
If they want to make new trails with bumps and jumps galore be my guest, but you better believe I'm going to get grumpy when you take my sweet, chunky tech and blow it to pieces.

So there is a new pod that just opened last weekend with like 10 carts. One advertised a cheesesteak, so I had to check it out. Very disappointed. Hardly any veggies, dry as all hell, and it was $15 ($18 with tip). The Block is $12 for the large which is at least twice this and loaded with veggies. Also not dry.

My afternoon of Idiocracy

GFF: Here are the notarized documents to record
County recorder: That's the wrong form
GFF: That's what you emailed Friday for me to notarize
County recorder: Well you need the correct form before we can record and get your zoning compliance, you need to see planning
GFF: Apparently I was given the wrong form to notarize in order to record for the compliance
County planning: Oh we don't do that here, you need to see the recorder
GFF: I just came from there, she said to see you
County planning: What you need is an X document
GFF: That's what I have right here, Notarized even. But I was told it was the wrong document
County planning: Oh yeah that's the old one, you need the new one.
GFF: I just got this emailed to me Friday, did you guys change forms over the weekend outside of business hours?
County planning: No, that form hasn't changed in 7 years, I will give you the right one
GFF: I thought you said you don't do that here
County planning: we don't, it's a county planning document
?

I swear I can understand ol Marvin Heemeyer a bit better every day through this process

Are they intentionally obtuse or just not GAF? Cause it seems an awful lot like they would rather you just not build a house than provide even the tiniest shred of help with the process.

In a van.... down by the river
Got lucky with the October backcountry permit lottery at the Grand Canyon. Tomorrow I'm gonna reserve a 5-day backpacking trip to the bottom of the Big Ditch with my lovely bride.

That is, of course, unless the online reservation system doesn't suck donkey nuts. :D

By far the most inept county government I've ever ran across. I've built many houses from scratch and never been anywhere that had this many mental midgets on the payroll. I think they are on a DILLIGAF soap box with a dropout education just consuming oxygen to achieve a paycheck. For context, I started this process in October, still no building permit till July possibly, but if I was in city limits I could have a permit in 24 hours.

Finally got my MRI approved, now if I can get through to imaging to make an appointment, I'll be set. It's been hurting like a mofo the last couple of weeks. Seems every time I start to do something, it reminds me I shouldn't.

I usually assume people like that are looking to get their skids greased with financial lubricants.

Blackmail is probably more appropriate.

A woman who I work with is incredibly inept yet demands te be involved in everything, usually dragging all progress to halt. Most people let her walk all over them as she also seems crazy and with a "I am going to HR" hair trigger. In the last year I have used a lifetime of patience in meetings trying to talk logic to her, with little no result. I have spent many an hour trying to teach her things when she asks for help, again with no measurable results.

Today I got the following instant message from her: "I have two ping pong paddles looking for a good home, interested?"

There is no sane explanation for this being actually about ping pong paddles, at least not a string free transition of ownership. But I have learned long ago to not stick your dick in crazy, so I declined.

Maybe she has "hidden" talents with ping pong balls with no need for the paddles, heard that was a thing while in the army overseas....

Bunch of e-bikers and e-biker apologists have their panties all in a bunch because people have been riding Sur Rons on local no e-bike trails.

If AI becomes self aware that certainly wouldn't be of human intelligence.

I had a chopped cheese at the local Bodega. Even though it was premade and under the lamp. It still looked fresh. I took a chance. I had it cut in half just in case. It was delicious. Plenty of adobo. Light on the mayo and hot sauce. The onions were large and slabby like you get in the Bronx.

Bruh, just moved my whole storage, 5 loads, Heavy ass shop equipment, I know
I was running the business in my old bosses garage. He moved to Nevada a year ago. They sold the place. They expect me to take all the things. It originally was his dads garage. The whole family picked through it all, aside from my stuff. Whatevers left is mine. Theres a homemade spot welder amongst the things. Luckily I have access to a lift gate.
