the race is really 'won' in the mountains yes, but you have to have a strong placing in all of the disciplines to win. (team time trial, time trial and flat stages)

prior to this past summer, i thought the Tour mountains were monsters, with near vertical ascents. but now i realize it's not the gradient that makes them hard, it's the speed at which these guys fly up them, and the miles per day. i'd like to see a professional race start in Mammoth Lakes, and end at the top of Tioga Pass.

Gah... Courchevel-Briançon looks hard as fahk. Bet lance makes his move there. Either that or takes his team to the front and leads a furious pace that no one can recover from for the next day... except him.

Left out Stage 14 with a tough uphill finish. If the final selection hasn't been made by this stage this day will make it.

Stage 11 is different in that it ends in a long descent. If Savoldelli makes it over with Lance, it could get interesting to see if Lance can follow him leaving, the rest of the field.

i'm having a hard time getting mine together too. i'm bumping kloden out and putting a few regular top 10er's in there but i'm having a hard time finding out which guys are in and which are out.
