Apparent fuel issues reported Monday for departing flights at Colorado Springs Airport - KRDO
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The same recent phenomenon that caused fuel shortages at local gasoline stations has now spread to some airports. Dave Zelenok of Colorado Springs told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that on Monday morning, he was scheduled to fly from the Colorado Springs Airport to...krdo.com
yea, i never put in notice until everything is clear (background check, drug screening, etc) and its a done dealstill doing the job thing- my offer was contingent upon reference and background checks, so I opted to wait on putting notice in until they clear. Hopefully that will be a straightforward and quick process, but now I am in between-jobs purgatory.
We're in a state of informal mass strike. From the bottom of our economy up, people are saying "fuck this, risk isn't worth it for what you're paying me".Why do you hate Freedom®?
you know what a lot of people should be doing now that they're not working? maintenance de routine. We're in a state of informal mass strike. From the bottom of our economy up, people are saying "fuck this, risk isn't worth it for what you're paying me".
Service industry are close proximity to people who have historically treated them like shit. Parents are largely keeping their kids from working, because risk, so it's falling onto career service industry employees who are at FTS levels and finding work getting paid more for better jobs, as there is now demand. Construction is paying WAY more, even for new labor - anybody can carry materials.
The fuel shortage? There are a lack of CDL drivers. The Kroger near where I am staying is almost empty. I overheard, what I am assuming is the manager, at the front desk saying this is the second time this week a truck has been cancelled. The store is gutted. Is it drivers? Not sure, but it sure would fit.
I'm going to make a broad political statement, but it's going to be largely right... Blue-collar labor tends to be right-leaning. Right-leaning at this point in time are largely the population that are not getting their COVID shots. So in addition to employment demand up market, you have a population which largely covers those roles getting sick with a high morbidity illness.
Add to it that you had lots of families across the country fall to single-income last year figured out the math that when not paying for daycare, their income loss had very minimal impact on them. Let's say you make $60k/y as a household (assume 35/25 split - which isn't outlandish if mother took some time off for kids - and you're lower income in US), you're in the 12% tax bracket. Of that $25k out of that is now out of the household income > $3k taxes = $22k > $200/w for daycare (which is low in most places) $10,400 = $11,600 > maybe you don't need that second car anymore, so drop the insurance, maintenance, and payment $6,000 = $5,600 > ~$470/m. Hubby now has the ability to get a job paying a little more because there is demand for employees. Maybe he gets a job going from $16.xx/hr up to $20/hr; now he's making almost $42,000. Suddenly, you're break-even and one of you isn't working. Sure you're not saving anything, but you're making it and spending more time with the kids. Why should you go back to work?
^^^I see on a very regular basis. If it's not a retiree or near retiree, probably 25% of who I talk to are people who recently have one parent leaving the job market with no near-term intention of going back.
on this topic, once our mortgage is paid off (hopefully post settlement), my wife won't need go back to work, unless she wants to.^^^I see on a very regular basis. I've come to terms with having no time for my newfound hobby. Once I finish my near-term projects, my large tools will go into "tool library" service with my friends. I won't necessarily have the space for them after I have reorganized the garage to maintain space to the tools, bikes, skis, etc. and two cars. However, I want to have them available for my usage later, hence not selling."I'm taking up woodworking with all my new found free time."

I sold my brewing when I hadn't used it after 18m. It was only a few hundred dollars worth and had a really steep depreciation curve.i have a bunch of nice woodworking stuff. doesn't get a ton of use but enough that i'm keeping it.
i haven't brewed in quite some time, and i've entertained the idea of unloading it, as it takes up a bunch of space.
was that before or after you switched to gluten free?I sold my brewing when I hadn't used it after 18m. It was only a few hundred dollars worth and had a really steep depreciation curve.
well before. And it's low-glycemic now. Gluten has never been an issue; amount of carbs has been.was that before or after you switched to gluten free?

Especially when the UPS's are already drained. Been there, more than once. I feel for ya.Power went off at work at 6:30am and was fixed at around 9:40am. UGH.
Hooked up a generator to get our network going again, but then some derp head turned it off when power came back and didn't tell me, so everything turned off....again.
Time for some coffee and a poop. Order TBD.
Slept wrong on my left shoulder, woke up with it hurting like hell....started my day with Ibuprofen and espresso. At least the heat wave has broken, it might get to 80 today which beats the snot out of the 108 we had last weekend.
Off to wheelchair hell for 8 hours I go
Age 64: everything hurts all the time from playing hard the previous 63 years...no regrets
GL finding something you like in the build you'd like that's available before 2022.Afternoon. Rainy day here = baking blueberry pie, honey-hush cornbread and packing the camper for the weekend's trip. Oh, and googling new FS bikes for Sq-Earl (& I .... 'cause he can't get one first). We both have 575s that are in good shape, but I personally don't like having to remember which size tube to put in the camelbak and hate carrying multiples. Our hardtails are Niners and we are still rockin the 26 FS so somebody tell me what the best bike for us is. Definitely want similar geometry & travel to our 575s and preferably a 29" wheel.
Yeah....that's why I am looking now. Our 575s are totally fine but the grass is always greener and n+1 is the correct number of toys so I'm taking some time to check out what everyone else is ridingGL finding something you like in the build you'd like that's available before 2022.
I gave up on a new trail bike for this year and bought a new DH bike instead.
