I'm seriously thinking about trying to do it next year. Have any of you yahoos done it?

what is it, yo?
Its a 100 mile race from Leadville, CO. Basically a 50 mile out and back. The winner does it in a little over 7 hours, cut off is like 13 hours. Finish in 12 you get a silver belt buckle. There is like a bazillion feet of climbing.
One of the crew out here has been doing it for ever... every year under 10hrs...
nice...would you be racing it or surviving it ?
(i say do it)
The running version or the bikey one?
A veternarian I worked with ran that. Her boyfriend I believe had finished in the top 10.
Definately the bikey one. I can't fathom running 100 miles.
It seems like a good goal for next year.
Her projectile vomitting upon finishing wasn't the sexiest thing I had heard about either.
A friend of mine Races it (also the Vail 100). He trains like crazy and still feels like he gets slapped around. Many times he hasn't finished it. I think its tamed out a bit from what it used to be. The run-race is much harder (www.leadvilletrail100.com).
i've completed this race twice in 99 and 2000. you definetly will find out what you're made of when you're about 75mi. into it. i'm very proud of the 2 buckes i have. i highly recomend it for anyone who thinks they "have something"
You need to sign up for that pretty far in advanced. I think it fills up early.
You have to have in your application by January and then there is a lottery for 750 spots. I'm not sure how many apply.
around me we have the VT50, all 700 bike spots filled up in 30 minutes this year
there's 2 buckels one for under 9 and one for under 12.
it fills up.
The under 9 isn't happening.
Forget Leadville. Do this one:
I don't think you get a belt buckle, though.
It only has 4 climbs. Of course each of them looks to be 20 miles long.
Hey you live out in the land of no oxygen, you up for it?
Dude. I'm not a complete moron.
I like 50 milers, but 125 is simply idiotic.
come on we have people from HOUSTON finish under 9 all the time, you can du et!!!
