I just got my Psylo Race back from a rebuild (factory), and on the second ride I already have oil on the stanchion. By the fifth ride I have even more oil oozing.

Is this normal? How much oil can I lose before it becomes a problem?

They all leak oil past the stanchions, eventually. Rock Shox stock seals suck--there is no main oil seal, only a foam wiper and a top seal. Give AngryAsian a holler--www.angryasian.com. He sells Enduro seals w/ a main oil seal for the Psylo. I've been running mine for almost 6 months and I love them. They are a little stickier than the stock seals, but it's not noticable when I'm actually riding, and I have NO leakage anymore.
The conversion took about 15 minutes. Well worth it!

RM, if you continue to have problems, I have THE fork for you. I want one too.

03 Manitou Black Super Air. Coloradocyclist.com is blowing them out. 3.7 lbs and on the fly travel adjust much like the Psylos. I rode the 02 and loved it. Great fork. Check it.

Any word on reliability?

The first version of the Psylo race did have a seal and wiper. Plus a thin foam ring. Was that the 2000? The following year they ditched the seal and the foam ring got thicker. A little oil is normal. The foam element is meant to be soaking in redrum and I know whenever I pealed up my wipers and cleaned it out, the redrum I added in would weap a bit for the first couple rides or whenever it was really dry out. I think when its wet, the weepage gets washed away and we don't see it. It might not be a problem. My buddy's Psylo SL weeped enough that he'd get a small run down the back of a slider. All clean inside though so we figured it was normal. Only happened when it was really dry though.

I thought RS were crazy to eliminate the seal though. Might be fine for the rider who goes out 10 times year, but not for the every day rider.
