What's the typical calendar window when the leaves change and where are a few good places within, say, six hours or so, to go to ride and hike to see the best fall colors?

Driving through the Lake City area in the summer, I thought that it would be really cool there in the fall.

The drive up 285 has lots of aspens that change colors and Kenosha pass to Georgia is a great fall ride.

Rode Kenosha to Georgia the middle of last September and the leaves were perfect...the day was cold, windy and rainy, but the leaves were perfect.

Great scenery/views and not a bad ride. I'm probably gonna do it again this September. Bring a camera

yeah, kenosha to breck is a safe bet in late sept.

you doing another ride-the-rockies sufferfest or zinger this summer? this week's been brutal no matter what time of day; heard you guys had 105 yesterday. we were around that yesterday & more of the same tomorrow. commuting's the only way i can fight the fatties
