i have a 97 cannondale sv700 and am looking to upgrade my front fork. i'm thinking about getting a lefty from ebay. my question is, will the newer lefty be compatible with my older frame??

you should have no problem gettin it in there...all cannondales are 1.5 head tubes and the lefty is a 1.5 "fork"...so if you wanna dish out the money for the fork go for it

That's why I would check this out. The 1.5 standard is relatively recent, and Cannondale had to make some minor changes from whatever their old standard was.

The Lefty isn't 1.5 standard.
You can mount it on a 1.5 frame, as long as you have the Cann headset, and the frame's headtube is 120mm long.
