Legend Park in Clayton, NC or Country Park in Greensboro?

Which of these are worth a day trip from Richmond, VA? What kind of bike would you bring to each park?

Thanks!

i haven't been to legend park yet but, from the videos, it looks like it has a few hucks and some skinnies. country park, on the other hand, is a fast, bermy dirtjump area with several lines and options.
CP is built so that anyone can ride it, ie: tables, but you can go big if you want.
so i guess it depends on what you want. hucktastic drops = legend. 4x style jumps/berms then go to CP.

CP

CP is also fairly close to some other local spots.

you can get in Greensboro this

Country Park (CP)
"Ninja trails" just tell me when are you guys coming, so I can show you this trails.
and about 20minutes from Greensboro
"the lake" this is just a sneak peak of it

you could ride CP and "ninja trails" untill 3pm and then head to "the lake" till dusk.
I dont know Legend either, so my recommendation is CP its what I know jeje

Thanks! the vote it Country park on Sunday, time yet to be determined.

We are not dirt jumpers so this will be a first. We ride mainly at Snowshoe on DH rigs. My fiance and I unfortunatly don't have an all-mountain bike so we're bring 1 DH rig and 1 FR hardtail.

you'll be fine on the DH rig. CP is all downhill so it's not like you have to sprint on the flats or anything. i rode it on my demo all the time. the lips are pretty mellow too, very big bike friendly.

Pardon me, ociffer, but how do the local trail builders feel about random out of town folks showing up and riding...?

(I swear to god someday I am gonna call a cop ociffer by mistake.)

no worries as long as a "local" is with them to show them around. hence the reason you won't find specific directions to some of these places. country park isn't private though, it's a city ordained park. the other places mentioned are on a somewhat need to know basis ;)

How did you guys fair with the storm? are the trails at CP still going to be rideable for Sunday?
The little bit of rain we had this morning prolly had little to no affect on the trails... They need water bad. That being said, things should be pretty dusty on sunday. :D

We had a blast! Ya'll are really lucky to have legal access to dirt jumps at Country Park. Thanks for showing us the Lake stuff too, sorry we were so beat by the time we got there. The heat and sun at Country Park really took a toll on us. I have a feeling that next time we come down we'll have to do some more exploring out there. :brows: We certainly don't have anything like that around Richmond.

Thanks a lot for taking some time to show us around after just getting back from Wolf. At least you came out with a good story and thanks for the escort for our buddy to the ER. :poster_oops: I'm sure he'll be posting some pics/story on our local boards.:picsstfu:

From Shawn
"Thanks guys. I have really been working on a spectacular way to gain entry into the Lummox family. A header from 6' in the air I thought was a perfect way.

I have to say thank you to everyone and especially Chris. We did not get out of the ER until 9:30 last night and then had to drive back. I was able to split the driving duties to help out. We made it back around 2:30 with the 30 stitches through three layers to put my lip back together.

The place is really fun and once I can open my mouth wide enought to eat normal food again I would be up for going back.

My favorite quote from yesterday was from Manimal " When you close you mouth I can still see your teeth

yeah, that teeter is nuts. i'm not all that great on skinnies to start but then add a steep climb to it and it's a big "heck no!" from me. there's a vid floating around of zachthemech crashing off of it then coming back to clean it. i'll have to upload that vid....i posted it a long time ago but i have no idea where.

The Aliens reference is funny as hell, becasue that is what I felt like. I probably should have bypassed that one being so late in the day and being tired, but I could not turn it down.

I will be back to clean it next time. I am still recovering and should be good to ride next week when the stitches come out. Here is a video of it posted on you tube.

Thanks again for being our guide. I really enjoyed the riding. I will be back with better helmet and a Red Bull.
