with a rock garden like that... who the hell wouldn't want to wear chest/back protection... DAMN
Post pics!I can give you contact a local girl who calls herself a trail princess and claims to be a better rider by TECHNICAL SKILL than most downhill riders she meets because she is world champion in Masters-2 24hour endurance XC (I'd be surprised if she had more than 3 people competing with her).
In Toronto? XC people clog the trails around here big time and the downhills have gotten so easy because same XC people cut out roots and remove rocks, so I also doubt it. But some are total rippers so credit where it's due. I am blocked for disputing her technical superiorityPost pics!

Funny you say that, the boners around here that maintain our trails and race up there do the same thing. It's pathetic. In Toronto? By local I meant local to me. Not in Toronto.PM me her name, I probably know her or have met at some point if she's a regular. I've been riding the trails here since 2000.
I started doing some XC stuff in the past couple of years to get back in shape and found there exists a super-wide divide in technical ability and desire in the XC community. The best XC riders are genuinely awesome bike handlers, but there are soooo many dust roadie types who are very vocal and don't want anything too technical in XC race loops. Fortunately the WC stuff is getting more and more technical so the better riders can use those examples as what needs to be in the local races to prepare the up and coming riders. In Toronto? This is why I avoid all trails within the GTA, besides Jefferson Forest. In Toronto? Translation: @martinwhitley: currently sitting on neko's head, just farted. LOL!Team Director Martin Whiteley said: "Neko made a mistake today and has paid for it. The issue is not with the UCI as I have read everywhere. All DH races held in Switzerland are governed by Swiss law, and the World Cup must comply. It’s the same in France, and all riders and teams know this, and are warned on several occasions that protection made of hard plastic must be worn. Neko didn’t follow that rule and didn’t advise anyone on the team of his intentions, and was caught by the official at the top. Neko has apologized to everyone on the team and we move on.”

I'm pretty sure he might be pissed he is just not advertising it. Complaining doesn't sell well in the dude bro world of dh.Man that guy has the right attitude, great to see him being positive about it. I'm still bitching about stuffing up a race run with a split brake hose back in 2007.
Maybe he is, but I can definitely see, that he is way happier then a few years back. He also says by himself that he always loved riding the bikes but hated racing. Nowadays he seems to actually love it and is way more approachable. Maybe he is matured now.I'm pretty sure he might be pissed he is just not advertising it. Riding there this afternoon! PM me if you want to join. This is why I avoid all trails within the GTA, besides Jefferson Forest.
Maybe the atmosphere in the sport is better overall.Maybe he is, but I can definitely see, that he is way happier then a few years back. That is also something you can see in Minnaar. With each year he seems to get cooler, which in a sport that gets won in the head is a real advantage.
There are good examples for older athletes in alpine skiing that don't let anything get to them and win big. For example Didier Cuche had his best years in his mid 30s.
I am by no means a big Gwin fan, but he seems to be a good lad with amazing skills on a bike. And I predict that he will be a top contender for a long time.
Definitely would come join, but I separated my shoulder on Saturday in the hydrocut. No riding for me.Riding there this afternoon! PM me if you want to join.
You would be surprised. I was at a marketing conference recently that was talking about "failure storytelling". If you think bad attitude never sells anyone you should not look shit from hot topic to anti social social club. Or tons of personalities that made big bucks on being grumpy.ftfy
