The thing is, whether you agree with Drumpf or not, he was in a position, and is still in a position, to make serious headway towards securing the border and reforming immigration. This could be the one thing he delivers/does. If there had been a promise that: "We'll secure the borders through a series of steps and measures, including surveillance, personnel, technology, barriers where appropriate and at the same time reform and streamline immigration and require businesses to e-verify", it's hard to believe that anyone would have opposed it. When it was time and time again "we'll build a big giant continuous wall and Mexico will pay for it", it just became a joke. Then, if you weren't in favor of the ridiculous wall idea, all of a sudden, by those in favor, you were labeled as "open-borders, pro-rapists, drugs, etc.". Now, even if he and the party come back and take the above reasonable course of action, he'll always be judged on the continuous wall idea that Mexico was supposed to pay for. It's absolutely unfathomable how stupid that idea was. This, more than anything, is why the money demand for "the wall" should never see the light of day.

We don't need a "secure border".
