molly ivins dies of cancer at 62
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Best-selling author and columnist Molly Ivins, the sharp-witted liberal who skewered the political establishment and referred to President Bush as ``Shrub,'' died Wednesday after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 62.

Ivins made a living poking fun at politicians, whether they were in her home state of Texas or the White House. She revealed in early 2006 that she was being treated for breast cancer for the third time.

More than 400 newspapers subscribed to her nationally syndicated column, which combined strong liberal views and populist humor. Ivins' illness did not appear to hurt her ability to deliver biting one-liners.
here's a biting one-liner: "your t*ts fall off, then you die"

(it was funnier when i imagined rosie odonnell saying it)

what does that have to do w/ the price of little thai boys?
Just that your little one liner doesn't sit with my idea of Christian values. I grew up in a religious household (son of a preacher man and all that) and whilst I don't beleive in God I can at least respect those who pay more than lip service to such values as compassion, forgiveness, good will to all men etc. Those who claimed to but once out of sight became as depraved as any non-believer were the worst hypocrites I have ever met.

Not calling you a hypocrite - you may be, you may not I cannot tell from here - I have no idea what standards of behaviour you propound, just thought I remembered you being a Christian. That's all.

ok, it's like this:

before the story broke, she was already in the judgment seat, having passed on to the other side. another christian teaching is not to fret over the dead. all prayers & other emotional energy goes to /dev/null. no doubt, i will wrestle w/ this as loved ones move on. i will also submit it isn't likely to change my understanding of biblical teaching, however.

not saying my comment was justified, but there are no degrees of dead. to me, my flippant remark carries as much offence toward her as remarks against the virgin mary.

also, i do not bristle so much at remarks made about God by the unbelieving as i do from fellow believers. for comparison, consider that i do not consider my remarks to be blasphemous when addressing joseph smith, ramtha, or mohammed, as i do not subscribe to their teachings, or find them to be true prophets of God.

hope that clears up these waters.

Find a similar quote from me anywhere and I'll have "George Bush is not a loser" as my sig for a year.

not good enough.
saying someone isn't a loser does not equal them being a winner.

perhaps i'm overreaching, but you should offer 'W' is for winner to entice me to dredge.

You're on. I was going to put that but I didn't want to run the risk of being quoted out of context...

this is an example of "good" free speech. the fact that you found it on fauxNewz demonstrates there's still purveyors of "bad" free speech.

i wonder what will be said of tony snow if his recurring cancer goes terminal (we can expect the same as when laura ingraham had breast cancer, but not like liz edwards' current cancer).

if liz really loves her country - apparently willing to sacrifice her marriage for it - why doesn't she suit up & go to iraq? gives john some bragging rights, too, and he doesn't have to shuttle her back & forth to treatment (though he could get some mileage out of it if he turned them into campaign stops).

win/win/win

Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
I'm sure she'll be right there after Laura Bush, the Bush Twins and Rush Limbaugh find their way over there.

EDIT:

Its really too bad that Dubya can't pull a Bill Pullman from Indendence Day. Hell, he's even a pilot like Bill was.
