Swede Lisa Norden had a fantastic season this year and crowned it with a Bronze medal at the 2010 Dextro Energy ITU World Championships. The women's race was actually quite tight going into the Grand Final event in Budapest, and while Lisa was sitting in third place in the series, that position wasn't secure by any means.

The sun had come out for the women's Elite race and American Sarah Haskins was first out of the waters of the Danube. A group of 16 led by Helen Jenkins and Sarah Haskins established at the front of the race, but they were being chased hard by another bunch led by Lisa and Swiss Nicola Spirig. Before too long the two groups had formed a big bunch and all contenders but Andrea Hewitt were there. The Kiwi who had entered the Finals ranked second in the world had a slow swim and could not catch up to the leaders who reached T2 with a nice advantage.

Emma Moffatt took the early lead on the run, with Helen Jenkins, Nicola Spirig and Lisa right there, but Emma Snowsill, who had a slow transition, was beside them before too long and soon after alone in the lead. But Snowsill did not really matter for the World Championships, as she had missed too many races with injuries. Moffatt though had to watch Lisa, Spirig and Jenkins who were close to her in the world rankings. Snowsill won the race with a superb performance, but behind her the race for the Championships was on. In the end Moffatt proved too strong and outsprinted Spirig and Lisa to the line, and that is exactly how the final medals were handed out. Lisa's 4th place finish in Budapest gave her the Bronze medal at the 2010 Dextro Energy World Championships.
