Hey guys, I just wanted to tell you this so that you might be a little more cautious. A guy here that I go to school with was out Sunday night riding his mountain bike down a steep hill on a paved road. It was pretty dark and he wasn't wearing a helmet. The details are a little sketchy but from what I know he was by himself and somebody else found him dead. They think something might have ran out in front of him causing him to brake to hard and flip over the bars and hit his head on the pavement, killing him instantly.

It's very disturbing because this just never happens to anyone I know, especially while just riding a mt. bike on a road. Anyways, he was a very influential student here and had a lot of friends, so it's been a bad week. He'll definitely be missed.

One more reason to wear a helmet, which I never have until now.

Thanks for listening,
Josh

Sorry to hear that man.

One of main reasons I wear a helmet is not because of any mistake I will make, but because something beyond my control can happen while riding, such as a flat at high speed, animal running in front, actions of other riders, idiot drivers in cars, etc.

Bummer man - sorry to hear the news.

I'm definitely a big believer in helmets... they've saved my arse ( ) several times.

Sorry to hear it.
i rarely ride on pavement anymore, but when i used to, i had lights. Not to see better necessarily in the city streets, but to be seen. Not sayin it would have made a difference here, but just sayin.....
