just wanted to see what the general consensous is on old RM...

i had an issue with a set of deux cranks and contacted the place where i bought them in october 08. the cranks were not not staying tight even after being torqued to spec with a quality torque wrench. race face told me that this was not a common issue, but it did happen. RF told me to contact the place of purchase to start the warranty process.

the shop gave me an RA number and i sent them in. they've had them since october and have gotten a few different stories surrounding the shipment being held at customs, the original package never being received, they were shipping me a brand new set of cranks due to the defect, in the process of being sent back from race face, etc etc.

with that said, i contacted the shop last week and they couldn't locate them (either new or old cranks). they found them hours later, unsent to raceface. two days later they said that it was sent to the company and it was found that there was no defect with the crank set and was being returned to me with a new bolt. they also claimed that there was a time difference between their shop and your support line making contact difficult. last time i looked, raceface and california was on the same side of north america and pretty close in time zone.

this just seems suspicious as this was a pretty fast turn around after having no answer for 4 months. the cranks would have been sent tuesday or wednesday last week for an answer by thursday...

i am just trying to make sure that i am not being screwed by these folks at the shop as their customer service has been extremely suspect to this point.

Im over here now
oh no, it was the shop. all race face did was tell me to deal with the point of purchase.
well it does sound like you are being screwed by the shop imo. raceface got back to them in a few days after 4 months of nothing all of a sudden?

i would say that you waiting 4 months before doing anything is kinda dumb imo

i've been calling the shop every couple of weeks and things seemed to be going fine. issues with customs, cranks at RF, them coming back...

so i didn't think it wasn an issue until they stated that they never sent them out.

Shop owes you something (crankset since shop told you that new cranks were on the way). Speak with the manager. I'd try to get a new crankset out of it.

Have you been dealing with the same person at the shop? If yes, he should be relieved of his duties.

It sounds like a bunch of slackers at your shop.

Frankly, shops vary on warranties. Since there is no money being made, I know a lot of places which slack on the shipping.

However, a lot of shops will make good, even if it is their own fault.
