London to host Islamic 'celebration' of Sept 11

Extremist muslim clerics will meet in London on September 11 to celebrate the anniversary of al-Qaeda's attacks on America and to launch an organisation for Islamic militants.

The conference, which will be attended by the most radical mullahs in Britain, will argue that the atrocities were justified because Muslims must defend themselves against armed aggression.

so many issues...
1. Should London even consider allowing this?
2. Would other countries, (eg. USA) allow this?
3. Doesn't this give US and allies even more reason to attack whomever?
4. Should the US send in some special forces to take out terrorist leaders?

I'm sure there are more questions, so go ahead and post what ya think.

Someone should fly a plane into their meeting...

Then when Muslims everywhere get uppity, we can tell them to STFU because "the atrocities were justified because non-Muslims must defend themselves against armed aggression."

The opinions aren't anything new; we already know who these guys are and how they think. If we disrupt or attack or interfere, we'll be called hypocrites and anti-Mulsim on the same lines of thought they'll be expressing...fact is, they're probably hoping for interference just to complain about it.

On the other hand, it's another reminder of the bitter irony that our societies' virtues (to us), can be freely used against us by our enemies...who see the hetrogeny and accepting nature of our society as weakness, and can avail themselves of it, using media and propoganda against us to put us in lose/lose situations time and time again. Yet, an extremist Islamic society and government (read: Taliban Afghanistan) would never allow a dissenting point of view, and foreign operatives have a seriously difficult time integrating into such a society, unlike sleeper cells and hidden insurgents in Western society, who are cloaked by our pluralism.

So, unless we're willing to commit to a *real* war on terrorism (manifest as, unforunately, a war on Islam in many ways), we should let it alone and consider it free speech.

People on this forum will have us believe that civilian casualties in Iraq are justified as part of the "war on terror". How is this any different? It's just idiocy and hate in a different form. Thinking that 9/11 was a good thing might make you a despicable person but not necessarily a terrorist.

Likewise, VB, lots of Muslims worldwide see America as spearheading an attack on worldwide Islam, both directly and by proxy, and think America's reactions to 9/11 are a little overblown in the face of what they've experienced (or even just think they've experienced...through ironic identification with Palestine, for example.) They don't understand how the average American doesn't see America as 'attacking Islam,' just like the average American doesn't understand how anyone could conceivably think 9/11 was justified.

well, if we don't send special forces in to kill 'em all, then we should at least poison the conference water supply with an overdose of laxatives!

I'd be willing to the number of civilian casualties in Iraq due to Islamic terrorists is quite a bit greater than those who were killed by Allied forces.

Wow. Just actually finished the whole article...raises the question I've been asking over and over these past few days. Would Al-Queada stop its attacks if they acheived Bin Laden's stated goals?

Obviously, these guys (who aren't Bin Laden himself) want a 'worldwide Islamic state,' but what would they do to get it? It'd be hard to get mainstream Islam to declare an offensive Jihad against the West in general...but perhaps the mainstream would allow the fringe to continue its operations, out of a sense of general sympathy. Public condemnation with private support isn't a difficult thing to achieve in the Middle East (or anywhere else, I suppose). On the other hand, I'd have to say that many Americans' true opinion would favor, in theory, a 'worldwide Christian state' (including a lot of our politicians), but just because they'd like to imagine such a place, they wouldn't be willing to go to (a long, probably fruitless) war to impose it on the rest of the world.

I could shorten that to just 'Fvck!' and still feel it adequately expresses my feelings...

No, I could never support a Worldwide Israel State.

Can you guess why?

Fvck it, I'll tell you... when was the last time you heard of a superior bicycle design come out of Israel? No, I'd sooner support a Worldwide Italy State.
